Bee Yard - Ecological Beekeeping Pollination

About 75% of all flowering plant species need the help of animals to move their heavy pollen grains from plant to plant for fertilization. Honey bees are needed to ensure our food supply, about 30% of our food is pollinated almost exclusivly by honey bees.

We produce local, raw, unfiltered and unheated honey. With the beeswax from our colonies we make candles, nativity scenes and seasonal ornaments

Our backyard is a registered, certified National Backyard Wildlife Habitat. For a certification with the National Wildlife Federation you need to provide the following basics.

Our honey is pure local honey from Aiken, raw, unfiltered and unheated honey of the best quality. No pesticides or insecticides are used at the "Walking Acres Bee Yard" in Aiken. The bee population in our apiary is never treated against any pest or disease, we keep our bees based on ecological principles. We have been beekeepers in Aiken since the mid nineties.
